Clinical Career
Dr Hosen Kiat is an internationally trained cardiologist and nuclear medicine specialist with over three decades of clinical experience in Australia and the United States.
​
He began his specialist career as a full-time staff cardiologist in the Department of Cardiology, a nuclear medicine physician and director of cardiac imaging research in the Department of Imaging at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, Los Angeles (1989–1996). Upon returning to Australia, he served as a Staff Specialist in Nuclear Medicine at Liverpool Hospital from 1998 to 2017.

As Medical Director and Founding Cardiologist, he has led a multidisciplinary team delivering evidence-based, and provided care to more than 100,000 patients over his clinical career in Australia and internationally.
Academic Career
Dr Kiat is also a distinguished academic leader in cardiovascular medicine and integrative health.

In 2007, he was recruited to help establish Macquarie University’s Medical School and University Hospital. As Foundation Professor of Cardiology and Founding Head of the Discipline of Medicine, he played a key role in designing its clinical and academic programs.

Dr Kiat was awarded a Doctorate degree in Medical Science (DMedSc) by the University of New South Wales in 2018—one of the highest academic honours in Australian medicine. His doctoral research focused on advancing non-invasive cardiac imaging, particularly in the quantitative assessment of myocardial perfusion and viability. This work built on decades of clinical experience and contributed to global standards in nuclear cardiology, further cementing his role as a leader in precision cardiovascular diagnostics.

Dr Kiat earned his medical degree (MBBS) from Monash University in 1978, one of Australia’s leading medical schools. His time at Monash laid the foundation for a career defined by clinical excellence and innovation. Following graduation, he completed his internship and residency at The Prestigious Alfred and Westmead Hospitals, establishing the groundwork for his later specialization in cardiology and nuclear medicine.
